Is it possible to read the Carriage Control Byte in spool files,
even with intrinsics such as FREAD ?

I need to read this first character to generate/insert blank line
in a spool file instead of codes %2nnn (wich means jump nn lines)
and copy the resulting file on an HP 9000 for printing.
