Glance/iX: HP's standard tool for on-line performance analysis. works great
since years and helps a lot in problem cases and to detect bottlenecks.
Scope/iX: HP's standard tool for collecting performance data for "history"
analysis.
LaserRX: obsolete product to analyze Scope's data - still works great!
MeasureWare/NT: replaced LaserRX for NT WS or Server. Disadvantage: you
must extract the Scope data!
MeasureWare/UX: is also able to analyze extracted Scope data.

My opinion:
Glance/iX is a MUST to observe performance on HP3K.
Scope/iX is a NICE TO HAVE if you want to see historical data, and is a
MUST if you have a consumption based billing in place.
LaserRX: get it if possible - it will avoid a lot of work/CPU time in
comparison to the MeasureWare products as long as the HP3K is not treated
in the same way.

"My" RC engineer already tried to make some pressure into the performance
tool lab teams to handle HP3K performance collecting tools the same way
like Unix (not only HP-UX is supported by HP!) and NT but so far no
success.

Hope that will help a little, best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Subject: Performance Monitoring

I finally have to take a look at performance issues with our 927LX. I
know there are many good performance monitor products out there and I
recall hearing that you can "rent" Glance/iX from HP. I would
appreciate some comments and education from those of you who routinely
use such products to tweak your 3000's. Thanks in advance.
