I found some interesting lines in IODFAULT.PUB.SYS for MPE/iX 5.5:

         {3.50" 9.0 GB Single-Ended SCSI Disk Device.
ST19171N DISC 4 2 0128 SCSI_DISC_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER...
XP39100S DISC 4 2 0128 SCSI_DISC_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER...
XP39100W DISC 4 2 0128 SCSI_DISC_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER...

         {3.50" 9.0 GB Wide/Differential SCSI Disk Device.
ST19171W DISC 4 2 0128 SCSI_DISK_AND_ARRAY_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER...
XP39100WD DISC 4 2 0128 SCSI_DISK_AND_ARRAY_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER...

so...it would be interesting to try one of those drives on 5.5!

BTW, "ST" is a Seagate drive. I'm not sure about "XP".
