Replying to the various posts ...
I didn't mean to start a Patch/iX war, it has always worked well for me
before and sure is a vast improvement over autoinst.
I always follow through the steps in the Maintenance Manual, even though it
is a bit laboured in places.
I have always accepted the defaults without any problems. I did notice that
there were some BASIC patches that were not accepted from PP3 which
surprised me a bit as we use BASIC.
As far as the fork() problem is concerned, transient disk space isn't a
problem but fragmentation may be.
