I think unfortunately the problem is that the strengths of the 3K are
not known within the installed base. Or rather they are recognised by
those responsible for running/maintaining them, but are completely
unknown to the senior management of those companies.

After all the only information that these people get, tells them that
their companies should be using UNIX, NT, Oracle, SAP or as we have
discussed at length before that an IBM AS400 is the best marketed
ecommerce server available.

So we should not be surprised if the troops running 3K's are not heard
when they say keep/enhance what we are already using.

Whilst singing to the choir, makes us all feel better, its not going to
keep existing 3K's installed.

What I think is needed is a campaign to inform the management of 3K
sites that they made a marvellous decision to have an HP3000, and what
an unsung hero it is.

And to take this beyond the talking shop stage, We are going to do it
here in the UK.

We are going to put together a personal mailshot to be sent to the key
directors of all the 3K users we know about in the UK. The aim is to
promote all the good things about the 3K, after all as a third party we
can say the things that HP finds it difficult to say publicly except to
the converted.

So folks, we need some input. If any of you have seen any good quotes
about the 3000, Image, Software, Application Sales etc. over the last
year or so, can you please send me a copy or let me know where we can
find it.

Also we are open to any suggestions as to what you think might make a
senior manager sit up and take notice of the 3K, and we need more than
warm fuzzy I think its wonderful comments here.

All input, on or off list appreciated.
