I was just chatting with a Service Engineer from Sun ( sorry about the introduction
Non-HP3000 hardware, but we have one of those boxes too ) who was saying they
expected the most amount of calls to be from people who would be shutting down
their hardware sometime mid-way through the 31st and then powering them up sometime
in the next one or even two days. The feeling was that many machines would have
never been shut down for that amount of time before, and it would not surprise
them to find hardware problems as these machines 'cooled' off and then warmed up
again. I, for one, had not considered this issue.

The other point raised was the common problem of people not putting all sorts of
processes into initialisation scripts thereby creating a mystery why all these
processes/applications just don't seem to start-up or be available as expected.

Cheers
Shane.
