Gehan,

You might still be able to get a LISTDIR listing even if the area of the
tape where your files are is bad; so don't rule it out.

First, though....

Is your tape set for autoreply?  Do you have an outstanding prompt (type
RECALL at a system prompt) for confirmation of the tape being loaded on a
specific device?

Do your backups require more than one tape?  Is there an outstanding prompt
asking that another volume of the store media be loaded for the restore?

Are there any console messages at all during this time?

What does a SHOWDEV 13 show?

Are you logged on to the MUB3 account, and do you have access to write to
the group where you are attempting to restore this file?  Are you getting a
security error?

MPE Subsystems don't normally just STOP when everything else is working.
There should be some message somewhere to explain this.
