You didn't answer the question, as far as I'm concerned, Wirt. If your
intent was to (quite properly) remind us of the human cost of war, or
serving one's country in the armed forces, you could have introduced the
article that way. The letter quoted was wonderful and heart wrenching. It
truly humanized the price those who are serving now in the armed forces, and
have served previously, from all countries and times, have paid doing their
duty. The inclusion of the quote and link at the end seemed to me to try to
politicize both the letter and this day of remembrance.
Several people on the list misinterpreted my question. This resulted in some
wonderful posts in support of this day, veterans from all countries and
times, and our Country and the freedom we enjoy that was, and is, provided
by those veterans. My thanks to all for raising your voice!
I'd like to invite all on the list to a celebration of freedom, and thanks
to veterans, that our Band and production company is putting on this coming
Saturday. Please see http://www.sojournproductions.com/ for details.
To all veterans on the List, I salute you!

Did you not want to be reminded what war is about on Veterans' Day?
