I have no idea how the 'sync' command is issued (I'm not familiar with EMC)
but could the following work?

On the development system issue the following command:

:NEWLINK /prodacct,/testacct

Then the EMC process on the production machine would be 'fooled' that the
same account is present on the development machine?

Just a thought.
