Tom,
If they are single purpose impact printers and the only application using
them is on the HPe3000 then there probably isn't any reason to switch them
to network printers. After all, nothing on the network (other then the
3000) is ever going to try and talk to them. The only down side is that
DTCs require some extra setup work in routers if they are at remote
locations.

It makes sense to make sure that some printers, like our HP Laserjets, are
accessible over
the network as well as from the HP. However, there are about 4 HP impact
printers in various
spots that have particular forms set up in them on a permanent basis and
work very well on
DTC ports using serial connections. Why would I want to change them over to
network printers?
