I can substantiate the claim as far as France is concerned : tax excluded,
Euro'95 (our regular unleaded) would be about 31 euro cents. Add VAT and gas
tax and you'll get Euro'95 at about 1.02-1.10 Euro/liter, or
US$3.90-4.40/gal.
