Rick,

Have you checked out ROC Software's Maestro product? It was designed to
handle batch processing in a multiple CPU environment and has a heavy
install base. The MPE product line (including RoadRunner and Spoolmate) was
purchased by ROC (a newly formed company to handle only the MPE product
lines) after the originating firm (Unison) was purchased by Tivoli (an IBM
subsidiery).

They had a booth at HPWorld last year, and I expect they will this year,
too. I'm sure they would be happy to provide you with much more detail than
I can in a short email, but you should consider them. Maestro is a little
costly (depending on the CPU size you're installing), but it doesn't cost
anything to ask, and they may work with you on the prices.

The basic setup is to have one CPU be the "master" and all others are
"slaves". Each CPU can still stream jobs but dependencies between systems
are trafficed by the master. At Problem Solved we work with Summit
Information Systems' client credit unions and (this was true when I worked
for Summit), new clients are required to purchase Maestro. It is very
pervasive in the client base, and is a very strong product. Clients
installed before Maestro was required have been migrating to it for years in
order to run lights out shops.

Check them out. www.rocsoftware.com
