$Perhaps-a-plug on

The current release of TurboStore requires an off-time for a couple of
minutes. This causes some people (and obviously, not Ken) a little
problem because it is difficult to gain even a short window when there
are no users on the system. Once the store process is started you can
start other processes, thereby increasing your on-line availability to
24 hours minus a couple of minutes. Depending on the difficulty in
stopping all processes, the couple of minutes could be 30 (still
shorter than 4 hours for the backup).

With 5.5 TurboStore you do not need to stop certain processes, such as
TurboIMAGE. The new version will allow processes that update
Transaction Manager (XM) attached files to continue. Again, is the
right environment (mainly TurboIMAGE and NM KSAM?) you can increase
your on-line availability to the full 24 hours.

Hope this helps (and is somewhat correct :]).
