It has been my experience that empty directories are not restored when using
the Directory option. Has anyone else run into this phenomena?

Because of the above problem I always use the BULDACCT program for storing
off the directory structure. Never had a problem with it!

Subject: [HP3000-L] Restore & Directory

Greetings,

I will be doing a system INSTALL this weekend replacing all disk on a
HP3000-928 (5.5.06). The system has three private volumes. The system will
be backed up using the following store command:

STORE /SYS/, / -
/SYS/;*DDS;DIRECTORY;ONVS=MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET,APPL1,APPL2,APPL3

Q: If I restore:
RESTORE *T;@[log in to unmask]@-log####.pub.sys;directory;olddate;keep;show=offline

Will all of the private volume directory information be restored as well? Is
it necessary to do a restore of only directory first?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
