We will let our masters reach close to 80% full and resize them to 60% when we
have to touch them.

Since we have a window of data base maintenance once a month, we also trend them
(mentally, not in any kind of automated way) and when a master is approaching
80% or is likely to be there by the monthly cycle after the current one, we'll
resize it.

  Subject [HP3000-L] DB Capacity Formual
  :

As I monitor our DB's I have to increase Master/Automatic data sets on
occassion to maintain a certain percentage of free space in these data sets.
Is there any formula to determine the new size of a data set when adding 'X'
number of records to it?

I've searched the archives and haven't found anything yet.
