If the Xerox doucprint is anything like our Xerox 4090 you have to use
LPR/LPD to print to it (the 4090 is hung off a sun sparc station). We print
to it from both NP92 and from Spoolmate.

While other third-party products may also work (espul was mentioned), if the
Docuprint printer has a parallel interface card on it, a HP external
JetDirect
card (JetDirect EX Plus; ca. $230) will almost certainly work -- and will
allow you to use HP network printing.

We've used about a half dozen here to connect to everything from Apple and
Tektronix color laser printers to older HP printers, such as the
large-format
DesignJets that actually have their own internal JetDirect cards, but don't
seem to work properly otherwise.

I've been tickled with how well the external JetDirect cards work and how
easy
they've been to set up.
