Actually, it might be also called a Dr Watson or a BSOD  (Blue Screen Of Death, not unlike Birket's slides at IPROF) .  :)

A couple of questions: when an application fails will it be called:
 - a GPF?
 - a UAE?
 - a core dump?

And will it bring the entire system down?
