You can use the 'site' command in ftp to stream a file on the 3k.

I've used it many times, and it is just as easy as saying:

     > site stream <job filename>

(the first '>' is the ftp prompt)

I setup cron to submit a job on the 3k that ftp pushed a file back to
the 9k. (system times didn't match, and I needed the 9k to initiate
all of the data gathering across the 3k and 2 of the 9k boxes so that
the data was all gathered at the same time.)

Subject: WANTED: remshd/rexecd for HP3000s (MPE/iX 5.0)

Anybody have a remshd or rexecd daemon for an MPE/iX 5.0 3000
machine?

I desperately need to submit jobs remotely from an HPUX 9.x
machine to a 3000.

I've tried out the GNU and BSD ports at HP's 3000 shareware
pages (http://jazz.external.hp.com/src/src.html), but
the inetd daemon (necessary for the remshd port) dies with a
memory exception (and I haven't got disk space to install the
GNU gcc to recompile on my HP3000).

I found a reference to a rexecd at Interex's www site:
  (ttp://www.interex.org/cgi-bin/dodetail?5394)
but it asks for an Interex member's surname and ID #
in order to download it. (I'd also need HP's "squisher"
utility at the same site to de-compress the rexecd archive).

HAAAALLP! Can anybody lend a hand?... MZ
