We are working on a CD recordable product (Model 2721) for MPE systems as a
permanent archive/backup device. Any suggestions, requirements,
applications, and ideas will be appreciated.
The current design consists of a hard disk cache for the CD-R (650MB), which
can be formatted and mounted as a normal read/write volume on the MPE file
system. After the volume is filled, the image can then be committed to the
write-once CD-R disk. The image on the CD-R can be mounted on the system as
a write-protected volume for reference when needed. Since the cost of the
media is low, it can be an excellent archive solution to replace tapes.
