My favorite line is:
"Beware, America, of the new Californians, sirens of the affluent
society who would lure you onto our shoals."
I've lived in California most of my life, but spent ten years living
elsewhere around the world.
I think Victor Hanson has hit the nail square on the head with this piece.
In general, his view seems to hit pretty close to the reality of the
current "California", though there are some notable exceptions.
In many ways, we've been too elitist and not pragmatic enough to notice
the long term effects of our decisions.
This is worth pondering over, even if you are not from California, and
maybe especially so, so others don't repeat our shortsighted mistakes.
