We have an HP service contract on our Laserjet IIId for next day
coverage. Last Wednesday I placed a service call. On Thursday a guy
showed up to fix the printer. He had HP boxes with him and I assumed
he was from HP (I should have been tipped off because he was not
dressed in a shirt and tie) He spent several hours on the printer
and it was not fixed by the time I went home. He told another person
in the office that I would have to call HP again to get further
service as the printer was not fixed. He left a receipt with us that stated he was
from a company called Sonic Air (a subsidiary of U.P.S.).
I called HP and was told that they do
contract with third parties but if I wanted only HP service he would
indicate that on our contract.

Is this news to anyone?
HP told me that they have been using third party repair for over a
year . I have never heard of this.
