Hello all MPE and Image/SQL users:

I just verified by checking with Interex IT Director
Jim Keller that the 2003 MPE System Improvement Ballot
(SIB) is ready for you to cast your ballots. URL is:

http://www.interex.org/advocacy/survey/mpesib03.html

There are 37 items on this year's SIB, submitted by
SIGMPE / SIGSYSMAN and SIGImage/SQL: 11 by SIGMPE /
SIGSYSMAN and 26 by SIGImage/SQL. SIGMPE / SYSMAN
items are all listed first.

PLEASE NOTE: We have a very short window to vote on the
SIB this year: vCSY deadline for allocating internal
HP resources for SIB activity is only TWO WEEKS away:
Friday 28 February 2003. In order to give HP at least
a couple days to review results after the polls have
closed, we need to have all votes in and counted by
CLOSE OF BUSINESS on WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2003; 12
days from right now... Trying to be as precise as
possible, let's call COB Wed 26 Feb at 16:00 US PST.
Hopefully not too many people will be on the beach in
Maui all that time, but either way...

Mea culpa (since I was last person to edit the "cover
page"): The ballot itself at above URL does not tell
you when the polls close, but hopefully most users who
get there will do so via this and other posts that DO
mention the cut off date. Given that (at least for a
fair number of people in the US including Interex) we
are going into a 3-day weekend, did not want to do
anything that might delay availability of the ballot
until Tuesday.

Special thanks to Leah Dean, Jim Keller, and Jerry Andre
at Interex for their extra effort to get the 2003 SIB up
and ready to go so quickly...

Hopefully the instructions and ballot at above URL will
be relatively self-explanatory. For any questions about
the process or on individual ballot items, please post
to 3000-L (could we consider a moratorium on "OT:" posts
between now and 26 Feb ? (not holding breath...) ).
