After a week or so playing with Borland's new Delphi, I must say I'm
impressed. Faster execution than Visual Basic, and almost as much power as
'C'. Error handling trays (TRY..EXCEPT) make life much nicer! Course
there's a few flaky bits, but overall very good! Part of the real power
though is its use of object oriented techniques. It took only a few hours
to encapsulate the entire WinSock API into a Unit that works!

So, I look back at the HP3000 and ask "Well its been a long time, what's
Pascal like on the HP3000?". Borland have done there own thing with
object-ifying Pascal (so I understand). In fact that always seemed to be
the biggest problem with pascal...a wide range of implementor defined
libraries. Does anyone know what moves are on with object pascal for the
3000 or 9000? Is Pascal a viable cross-platform development language?
