We have an N4000 with single 220Mhz cpu and 1GB memory, 7.5. Looking at
Glance (trial) output looking for some slowdown causes (which BTW have
stopped as soon as I can try to localize them).
Memory does get up to 95%, and cpu to 100%, but cpu average over a day is
under 20%, and memory mostly sits around 90, average 85%. A couple of times
I have seen a process impeded by MEM, but only a few times a day - not that
I can sit and watch it all day. Can lack of memory cause bottlenecks even
though Glance doesn't show it hitting 100%?
Anyway, can you just swap in a faster CPU and nothing else needs changing?
Or several of them? Is there anything in MPE that will stop this working?
Does each cpu need its own processor support board, or will a board support
more than 1, like the memory carrier does?
I see 550Mhz cpu as low as $150 ..
TIA
