I am running Samba/iX on a HP3000, accessing files with a PC using Win98.

-------------Version Info-------------
 Samba/iX 0.7d Hewlett Packard 10/98
Samba/iX is a HP version that allows Samba services to run in the HP Posix
shell.
"The current versions of Samba/iX are based on Samba 1.9.16p9 and the port
uses the LIBBSD package (libraries and include files) available on Jazz
to resolve BSD style routines that are not part of POSIX to successfully
compile with HP C/iX (c89 under the Posix shell)."

------------- The problem ----------------
Opening, reading, writing and closing files is fine except for Winword.
 Winword
     1. can open small files but adds a trail of garbage on the last line,
     like this \2 w2 x2 2 Z2 2 2 2 2 2 2
     2. detects network problems on files that are more that a page
complaining Reading failed on filenam.ext. restore the network
connexion or
     replace the floppy.
     3. Similar messages when writing any file that is not small.

Excel is accessing data without problems.

 Any ideas ?
 TIA
 Seamus
