Why not combine the two?
The Homeland Spooler Alert System:
Green: The spoolfile is over 75% complete.
Blue: The spoolfile over 50% complete.
Yellow: The spoolfile is just 25% complete.
Orange: The spoolfile is ready to print.
Red: The spooler has stopped.
It's not SPIFFy, but it would look cool in QCTerm's Van Gough mode.
