How large does the file have to get to which FLOCK and FUNLOCK are applied
have to be before performance starts to suck.
Also, I have encountered a few instances when unusually so a customers hp3000
has gone down only to find when they bring it back up one of our files had
quiet a few entries missing, how can this be so if every fwrite is covered
with an FLOCK and FUNLOCK and all the buffers get posted to disk, or does
phenomina only occur on ix and not on previous mpe releases.
I have put code in to force to EOF and buffers to be flushed to disc, just in
case the machine goes down. I have as yet not had a customer go down on ix
but I am now concerned as to what will happen to the end of this file because
it does flock and funlock around the writes to the end of the file.
Any further comments on the above would be most welcome.
