Jim Wowchuck from 'down under' had developed an SMTP mailer that can, using
another host as a relay, mail files out of the HP3000. The version that I
got had a little trouble working out of batch but I modified it and it works
just fine for us. We use it along with a home developed command file to
mail reports or notifications from our batch environment. Using the command
file we have also developed some distribution lists, thus eliminating the
need to modify the batch jobs when the recipients change.

I also know that the folks at TELAMON have a similar mailer (Freeware).

If you are interested in 'seeing' our implementation, drop me a line/call.

We have a PC set up as FTP server and a program Text-to-GSM which will
send a file as a SMS message to my GSM-telephone. I create a file on our
HP3000 including phonenumber =E4nd the message and then trasfer this file=

to the PC using FTP. As soon as this file is found by the PC program, it
will be sent to the telephone.
I use to get a message when all jobs that must complete successfull
every evening, are ok. But also when Maestro (from Unison/Tymlab) has
detected a job in state ABEND.
