Do the applications you want to access from telnet use VPLUS? or block
mode?
 
If you have a spare slot in a DTC, the telnet access card might be more
reliable (cheaper?) than a PC.  There is also a telnet express box that does
this for the HP3000.  These are supported by HP.  You will need a dedicated
PC for the OV DTC manager software, if you don't already use it, which
adds greatly to the cost. The telnet card or box have a different IP
address than the HP3000 itself and there are limited numbers of connections
available from these.
