http://www.kumite.com/myths is a remarkable site, chock a block full of
information on viruses, real and imagined, with a somewhat more sane
assessment of the seriousness of Melissa, Chernobyl, BubbleBoy, and anything
else likely to come down the pike. The site owner also provides links to a
number of other sites with widely divergent purposes and perspectives.

To see your tax dollars at work (based on the logic that computers use
electricity, or that the government uses computers?), visit the Department
of Energy's http://www.ciac.org, and follow the 'virus' link. At least it is
harder to question their motives. Currently, they appear to have stopped
maintaining their database, and now provide links to other sources of
information.

I am skeptical of the accuracy of the information coming out of the
anti-virus vendor sites, including the vendors of the products I use at work
and at home. I find it hyperbolic. And the press seems to have faithfully
reproduced AV vendor's press releases, without the benefit of doing their
own investigations.
