Not only is there plenty of excitement about possibilities
for an MPE emulator, IMO it is the single "most exciting"
(and most realistic) possibility for allowing MPE and
Image/SQL to continue to live an active and productive life
at some level after the October 2003 "end of HP sales" and
2006 "end of HP support". Being able to run MPE on IA even
in emulated mode would open up a lot of new possibilities...
Which by itself does not guarantee success in the long run,
but at least the opportunity would not be precluded.

To maximize the chances that HP will facilitate or at least
allow an emulator to be produced by a third-party, I encourage
all members on this list who would like to see that happen to
not pass up opportunities when dealing with HP to lobby hard
for that outcome. HP is touting how they want to be their
customer's "trusted partner"; allowing an MPE emulator to be
produced and run by end users would IMO be one of the best
things they could do to back up those words with action...
