Hi Cory,
Being on the 'Ground Floor' may or may not be an issue depeding on your
geographic location, and if there are floors below the ground. Also, if your
putting in a raised floor and have designed in drainage then your miles
ahead.
I remember that in Chicago a few years back, there were buildings with their
data centers in the basement. This was great! Good security, No windows
..... until someone ran a piling through an unmapped subway tunnel. That's
when it would have been nice to have had them at ground level.
I know this doesn't help, but I don't think there is a perfect place for a
Data Center.

Subject: OT: Data Center Location
If I'm being paranoid just tell me. My employer is moving next year to a
building that is now under construction. The powers that be have decided to
put the data center in a room that is on grade level rather than 1 level up,
as it is now. Does anyone know where I can find information on flooding
potential, etc. to present to management about the dangers of a grade level
data center?
