  Have a look at files in @[log in to unmask] on an 4.0 system that has full subsys
  installed (well, I'm not sure if this requires full subsys or if it comes
  as a part of FOS). The following is a part of manual.pub.hpncs:

1. INTRODUCTION

Purpose and Scope

The purpose of the Network Computing System Runtime MPE Binary Release
Document is to supplement the following NCS documentation.

     * Network Computing System Reference Manual [Prentice Hall] (part
       number 010200-A00)
     * Managing NCS Software (part number 011895-A00)

The manuals listed above describe NCS in a generic manner, including
information that is common to all implementations of NCS. This document
summarizes the aspects of NCS Version 1.5.1 that are unique to the MPE
implementation.

Audience

This document is for both end-users and application developers using NCS.
You should be knowledgeable about the MPE operating system and the Network
Computing Kernel (NCK).

References

For more information, refer to the following.

     * Network Computing System Tutorial [Prentice Hall]
     * Network Computing Architecture (NCA) Protocol Specifications [Prentice
       Hall]
     * MPE System Configuration Reference Manual
     * NS3000 Network Managers Reference Manual

2. PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Network Computing Kernel (NCK) Version 1.5.1 is the NCS component that
provides runtime support for distributed applications. The NCS Runtime
product includes all the NCK modules needed to execute NCS-based applications
on MPE. NCS Runtime includes the following modules.

Daemon Executables
     * Local Location Broker Daemon (LLBD)
     * Non-Replicated Global Location Broker Daemon (NRGLBD)

Libraries
     * RLNCS MPE relocatable library (RL)
          error_$ Operations on error text database
          lb_$       Location Broker interface
          pfm_$      Fault management
          pgm_$      Program management
          rpc_$      Remote Procedure Call library
          rrpc_$ Remote Remote Procedure Call interface
          socket_$   Operations on socket addresses
          uuid_$ Operations on Universal Unique Identifiers

Utility Commands
     * LBADMIN utility
     * STCODE utility
     * UUIDGEN utility

Configuration Files
     * GLBOBJ file
     * GLBSITE file
     * UUIDNAME file

Documentation
     * MANUAL binary release document
     * NCSMAN command
     * NCSPRINT utility
     * NCSCAT manual pages

Verification Tools
     * NCKTEST utility

Compatibility

The NCS Runtime Version 1.5.1 on MPE is not compatible with earlier NCK
versions on other operating systems. Ensure that all interoperating systems
are executing NCK Version 1.5.1.

Non-Supported Features

NCS Version 1.5.1 for MPE does not support the following features.

     * A threads capability (i.e., there is no Concurrent Programming Support
       (CPS))
     * A Replicated Global Location Broker Daemon (GLBD) executing on an MPE
       system

......and so on. This is not a complete printout, just some stuff that should
help you to get started.

Best regards,
Eero Laurila - HP CSY Networking lab, NS Services.
