Here are a few random notes:

First, [log in to unmask] is still listed as the contact for LUND.COM at
Internic. This is a *great* way to get *lots* of spam.

Save all the spam you get for a while, and examine the headers. As you add
filters, don't delete the mail, drop it into a "Possible SPAM" folder for a
while until you're comfortable that you won't lose anything to your new
filter.

Here are a few things to filter on: if no header contains "[log in to unmask]",
it's either spam or an email list posting. Filter your email lists into a
folder (or folders), then drop anything else that doesn't have
"[log in to unmask]" in the headers into your "Possible SPAM" folder.

Delete anything with "XXX" in the subject.
Delete anything with "savetrees.com" or "CyberPromo" in the headers.

A growning Usenet practice is to use "[log in to unmask]" in your .sig
file (and your web browser), and to add a note to you .sig file saying
"Remove nospam from email address to write me". This defeats the
address-sniffing bots.

I've seen the suggestion that you use "[log in to unmask]" on your web
page, since clicking on it will still work, but I'd bet the spambot authors
have already coded for this. It might reduce it somewhat.

Much more is available. Check Yahoo and/or Alta Vista (search for "spam").
