Steve,
For the most part IOCONFIG/DOIONOW works great, especially for network
printers. One minor gotcha is that the changes are made to the current
configuration, and to CONFIG.SYS, but not to BOOTUP.SYS. This means that the
next system reboot you do MUST be a START NORECOVERY, else all of your
changes are lost. Since the next reboot might be several months down the
road it is easy to forget this and issue a START RECOVERY causing the
configuration to be read from BOOTUP.SYS.

Subject: SYSGEN and IO configuration
There is a command file DOIONOW which lets you 'add' items to your system
configuration (after adding them with SYSGEN) without rebooting the system.
Is there a plus or minus to using this instead of a reboot when one adds
LDEVs, specifically LDEVs for networked printers.
