No, that was a perfectly appropriate abuse of the list. :-)

Actually, instead of sending an attachment, how about just putting the
information on a web site and providing a URL? Attachments assume that
everyone who receives your message has the appropriate software to view
them; with a web reference, you don't have to worry about that.
