For those of you that have to deal with Windows 98 PCs ... I have 2 PCs
that refuse to startup at the DOS prompt ... and refuse to run the
recovery CD, since this process apparently runs in DOS mode.

It gets up to this statement in Config.Sys:
        DEVICE=C:\ICU\DWCFGMG.SYS
and displays the following text and then just hangs:

Plug and Play for MS-DOS(R) and Windows(TM) Configuration Manager -
        R1.44
Copyright 1993,1994,1995 Intel Corporation..........
MS-DOS is a registered .........

I have tried running Scanreg and System File Checker and found no
problem and there are no viruses. Wondered if anyone else had run
into this. My apologies for bringing this up here. I started first
at the appropriate newsgroup and the only real suggestion was to take
PNP off in my BIOS, which I prefer not to do. I could have sworn these
worked in DOS mode at one time, but perhaps not.
