Ken,

FYI, I have seen all three posts of this message.

I get the digest rather than the individual postings. Perhaps some stuff makes it to the digest that doesn't get posted individually.

Not complaining, just wanted to let you know your message was received (at least by some of us).

Third attempt at posting. Previous two posts appear not to have been

RE: Re : HP3000 Model 70

Ray,

The HP3000 Model 70 running MPE/V Platform 3P or later release is Year 2000
compliant.

We have been able to do Year 2000 testing on a Micro GX running MPE/V
Release 3P since January 1994. We are still waiting to do Year 2000 testing
on MPE/iX!

An application without source or support is a problem on any HP3000.

HP are wanting to bring closure on Classic HP3000 systems in 1998 by having
all these boxes replaced with PA-RISC boxes. This is not the only closure
option for HP. There are other alternative sources of equipment maintenance
besides HP. The main issue in keeping these systems operational is software
support which HP is ending in September 1998. If HP provided the source for
MPE/V and all sub-systems on DDS then MIS departments could provide
in-house software support or out-source the software support function to
others.

Unfortunately there is no SIGMPEV to give MPE/V users a voice and provide
advocacy on these issues to HP even if there was any interest among INTEREX
members.

Ken (MPE/V is ready for Year 2000) Nutsford

You are indeed right to be concerned about the Year2000 for this platform.
Your best source of information regarding this machine can be found on a
link from the HP3000 Jazz Server..

http://jazz.external.hp.com

At the bottom of the index page there is a link to classic HP3000
resources. This shows up some very interesting information about the
Classic HP3000 line of machines and HPs policy, including specific Year2000
Information. I think it would look good for your case to get the details
"from the horses mouth" so to speak.

Also, if you have an app without Source and no support - and - you can
prove the app holds dates without the Century, then it's a pretty good
indicator that the app can't handle > 12/31/99 dates.

Hope this helps.
