What is wrong with this picture.
 
In the February edition of Interexpress, on page 5, there is a story abou=

Software AG and HP opening a joint technology lab, with the express purpo=
se
of migrating ADABAS to HP-UX.  Towards the end of the story, there is a
paragraph which states:  << ADABAS is an OLTP database server that has be=
en
well established in mainframe environments for more than 25 years and has=
 
been available on UNIX-system-based environments since 1991.>>  This lab =
will
be staffed by both Software AG and HP folks and is situated at HP in
Cupertino.
 
So HP is willing to expend beaucoup effort in migrating a third-party
proprietary database to HP-UX, but it will not consider making IMAGE/SQL
available on HP-UX.  {:-)
 
One of HP=92s main objection for moving IMAGE/SQL to HP-UX is that IMAGE =
is old
technology, it is over 20 years old.  Now in the article, it appears to m=
e
that HP and Software AG are saying that it is advantageous for ADABAS to =
be
25 years old.  Now, I am totally confused, I thought  25 was more than 20=
,
and 20 was too much.  But now it seems that 25 is desirable?!?
 
This looks like a question for IPROF, or INTEREX or . . .  Yes, I know,
having ADABAS on HP-UX will bring more folks to the HP environment.  Does=
 
this mean that at some point ADABAS would be migrated to the HP3000?
