Jeff adds to the ad discussion:

That's about what I meant to say... :-)

> ..... I'd like to see MPE and Image both mentioned there, and

I agree: If anything is added to the previous, reminding the
world *and* Carly & Co. that HP formally committed to port
MPE to IA-64 would be one of the "next best things"....

Then Jeff comes up with what I believe is the ideal solution to
the "bunch of URLs problem" (Alfredo might still not agree, but
we'll give it a try... ;-) ):

> .... there should be one URL pointing to more info offline
> (ala the website I mentioned above) ..... A complete list of
> signatures, perhaps with optional URLs ought to be available
> on the ad-dedicated web page.

THAT'S IT !!.. oops; forgot: I'm out of "!!" for now... anyway,
here's my LAST shot at revising "P.S." revisions for tonight:
==============================

P.S. Your turn next: Don't be bashful
about telling everyone how the HP 3000
uses MPE/iX and Image/SQL to run their
online retailing and credit unions, and
sells them their airline tickets. Tell them
about http://www.hp.com/go/3000 ....
and http://jazz.external.hp.com
and http://raven.utc.edu/Archives/hp3000-l.html
and http://this.ad.URL.com
and news:comp.sys.hp.mpe

And don't forget to remind people that the
HP 3000 MPE/iX Operating System and
the Image/SQL DBMS run on PA-RISC
hardware just like the HP 9000; and will
run on the same IA-64 hardware as
Windows 2000, LINUX, and HP-UX....

And of course don't hesitate to brag about
how MPE/iX is the strategic OS that only
HP was able to invent....
==============================

.... If readers have any predisposition to want to know more,
something like the above will point them in the right direction(s).
If not; well....: another 1000 words probably won't make any
difference... and this way Alfredo can still get his blazing big
font for the top half or so of the page... if there ends up being
one.... :-)

I also realize that to a large majority of WSJ readers the above
won't mean anything... but at least a few CIOs and even CEOs
*might* ask: "What is this HP 3000 thing I saw in the WSJ ??"
at their next staff meeting....

.... now: time to order a couple "Owl" shirts....
