I just wanted to let folks know about how Samba/iX saved the day here.

I use Samba to back my PCs and servers up to an HP3000, which is then backed
up to tape. Last Friday, my laptop suffered some serious loss of data on
the hard drive - over 20% of the data was trashed.

After a clean install of the OS, I was able to restore from the Samba/iX
backup copy. Virtually all of the data came back, and that which couldn't
was not the fault of Samba, but the OS involved on the laptop.

Needless to say, although it did take some time to fix the laptop, Samba was
extremely instrumental in getting the software back to the system, including
the Win9x Registry!

Lars - Pats on the back to you!

Best Regards,
Joe

PS: Before all this happened - I was interviewed on Samba/iX by the HP
Advisor. The interview appears in the November issue - Page 5.
