AutoDial and modem settings

I need to get the correct AT strings for either "HP part# HP28639" or
"Hayes Accura 288 V.34 Model 5901US" (that's the description I have,
part of the downside of having one's data center in another state), to
enter into the Nobix JobPak AutoDial. On the former, it seems to hang
indefinitely, although that may be a matter of switch settings, and on
the latter, I get CANNOT OPEN PORT: DSR NOT AVAILABLE, and would like to
enable via the correct string or strings (AT&S1?). Has anyone had the
pleasure?
