Thanks for answering the fundamental question in a very concise fashion, Bruce!
 
Indeed, I will proceed to modify the scripts to use FTP instead of DSCOPY and find out whether Op Center works to the HP3000 subsequently.  I'll certainly post any further findings here for the edification of all concerned parties!
