Actually, gzip/gunzip can be as well. You do need to use POSIX semantics,
however. In the gcc installation script, I place gzip and gunzip as
GZIP.UTIL.SYS and GUNZIP.UTIL.SYS and include links to them from
/usr/local/bin so they're usable from both environments.
