Leonard's posting made me think that I probably should have sent
the attached off-list reply to Wes' complaint "on-list" as other
(new or old) list members might also find some tips in it...
By the way, I *do* second Gavin's plea to all posters to *not*
include a whole thread's history (ie previous replies or original
posting) in their comments, but to strip down the quoting to as
much as appropriate to understand the points/aspects being replied
to. Excessive quoting/appending is a major pain for those reading
HP3000-L in digest mode as well as non-digest mode as well as the
users of Bruce Toback's excellent "threaded archives"...
Lars.

indeed, there is lot's of noise on HP3000-L, although sometimes even
the noise (ie non-HP3000-related) can be educational or entertaining.
But it can be overwhelming by eMail. Have you tried alternate access?

One of the different access methods might be more convenient for you,
especially if you do not have a seperate eMail intray for HP3000-L mail
or some eMail client that allows semi-automatic folder-placement for
incoming messages.
Another option might be setting your HP3000-L subscription to either
digest mode (one big message per day) or index mode (only subjects).
