These days, I'm not sure of anything.
(And Heisenberg thought HE had doubt. ;)

I just checked, and clearly I was mistaken in my earlier comment
about MGCAT files containing an index in the user labels.  (i.e., IDNRC ;)

And of course Bruce is correct about MAKECAT using the user labels
for info.  (I'm sure one of Robelle's tools dumps user labels for
inspection, but I do not recall which, and I do not recall any other
way besides a home-grown solution.)

MGCAT files use an index, but it's stored in the contents of
the file, rather than in the user labels.
