Denys,

<rant warning>
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I can't believe that we're still on Win 3.11 either. I won't whine too much, but let's just say "I'm working on it!" If all goes well, we'll be on Win '95 by mid-April.
<end rant>
I don't think it's a driver issue, because I'm using the latest-and-greatest available from 3Com's web site. The diagnostic program reveals the card to be in perfect working order. Also, Jeff Kell had suggested a mismatch in duplex, but when I manually set it to 10Mbps and half-duplex (as it should be) that didn't solve anything.

Minisoft tech-support suggested that, since we're connecting to a Novell file server, we should have the file NOVASYNC.EXE in the C:\WINDOWS directory. I didn't think that our connection to a Novell server made any difference, but... so far I haven't had any problems. Since this is an intermittent issue, it will be a while before I'm sure that this really fixed anything.

To be
honest, I can't even believe that any business if still running on Windows
3.x. Before people jump all over me, this is akin to having your 3000
running MPE/XL  3.0.

When you dropped your ISA card in favor of a PCI card, you must have loaded
new drivers to support that card, since Windows 3.x knows nothing about PCI
devices without new drivers. These drivers would have accompanied the
card. You should visit the 3Com web site and see if they have new 3.x
drivers for that card.

Your ultimate solution is of course, to upgrade to Windows 95/98 or better
yet, to NT 4.0.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .
