If you have a number as 3456 (read as 3,456) only after placing the ","
properly that you would determine that 3 as a left most digit is falling in
the thousandth place and hence the whole number is Three thousand Four
hundred and Fifty Six.

While writing it down one may definitely find that 6 is the last digit BUT
its 3 which has the highest value for this number that takes the last digit.

I fail to see the purpose in declaring the obvious to be incorrect, even in
a "math only please" context. Why not simply call the 3 "most significant"
and explain what that means, also in English? 6 quite clearly is the last
digit, unless you're reading it in Farsi. Three hundred forty six. Conveys
a lot of information, and six is clearly the last bit of that conveyed info,
despite its relative insignificance.

Snake oil.
