Greetings to the -L,
Has anybody written any %BACKG tasks that the would be willing to give
some details of?
In the past I wrote several that made it easier to check if certain
processes (jobs) and connections were working ok. The thing with these
is that they were simple, took minimal resources and were very quick to
run.
I now find myself with having to write something to check for files on
an ftp server, download them, run a program to load them into a database
(Cobol), extract some data (PowerHouse QTP), upload the extracted data
to an ftp server. My options are:
1. Batch job that process all found files and stops when upload is
completed.
1. Batch job that loops until a 'stop' file is found.
2. Batch job running a Cobol program that loops until a 'stop' command
is received.
3. %BACKG task.
