A vendor that I transfer data with, has made a decision to drop the
reel-to-reel tapes that we currently use to swap data between our systems.
The only alternative available (published at this time for a 9/1/00
implementation date), is 18 track data cartridges. Anyone taken data from a
16 track data cartridge and transported it to an HP3000 and how did you do
it? Are 18 track data cartridges available on the HP3000, and, of a
standard format between many different systems?
Hopefully, they'll give us more options later before 9/1/00 (ie. e-mail,
dial-in access, FTP). The site that I'm working with doesn't have a high
speed connection to the internet. Data files can get rather large and
transferring 10MB files on a dial up could be rather relaxing work.
